Kansas Player Quotes

Senior Center Sasha Kaun

On Michael Beasley...

“He’s a great player. We kept him below his average, but he still scored 25 points. He’s just a great player who made some tough shots. Pullen made some great shots too. Tonight we played a team that had three players who scored over 20 points, that’s over 60 points. That’s a hard thing to overcome.”

On the overall performance...

“I’m disappointed to be on the team that losses the streak. It’s extremely tough to lose on the road like this. They played better than us today, inside and out. I thought K-State’s guards did a really good job tonight. They executed in scoring and did a great job leading their team tonight.”

Junior Guard Brandon Rush

On the second half...

“I wasn’t playing aggressive like I was supposed to; I only took three or four shots the second half. I think K-State sped us up a little bit in the second half. They killed us on the offensive rebounds then out-rebounded us by four. They were just scoring, and we felt we had to score quickly to get the game going.”

On K-State’s performance...

“It doesn’t surprise you from this group; they have two of the best players in the country on their team. They were scoring and hitting everything. It did surprise me that they sped up our game; we are usually the force team in this type of situation. Tonight we weren’t. I thought we would be the most poised team but tonight was just not our night. Everything was going their way and they made the best shots in the game.”

On K-State’s three pointers...

“They made us change our defensive game plan. We had to back off of Michael Beasley and Bill Walker in the post. They stopped making three’s in the beginning of the second half and made some crucial one’s toward the end.”

Junior Guard Mario Chalmers

On what most impresses him about K-State...

“Their outside shooting impresses me the most. We didn’t think they were that good of shooters; they were definitely hot from the three point line tonight.”
