Kansas State now leads the all-time series with Texas, 10-8... The Wildcats have won back-to-back games in Austin for the first time in the Big 12 era (after five consecutive losses) and the first time since winning 71-63 on Dec. 6, 1973 and 51-43 on Jan. 8, 1983... The last five meetings between the two schools have been decided by a grand total of 18 points, including a pair of overtime games.

 

The Wildcats’ starting line-up included sophomore guard Jacob Pullen, junior guard Denis Clemente, sophomore forward Dominique Sutton, senior forward Darren Kent and junior forward Luis Coln... Kansas State has used this line-up in 18 of 21 games, including the first 10 this season... K-State has posted an 12-6 record with this line-up... Pullen has the longest active games played streak, seeing time in all 54 games in his career... He also has the longest active starting streak, along with Colon, at 21 consecutive games.

 

Kansas State ended Texas’ 19-game homecourt winning streak, including a 14-game streak in Big 12 play... The Longhorns’ last dropped a game on their home floor against Wisconsin (L, 67-66, on 12/29/07)... The Wildcats were the last Big 12 team to win at the Erwin Center when they knocked off No. 22 Texas, 73-72, on Feb. 3, 2007... The win in 2007 was also the last time K-State knocked off a Top 25 team on the road... The win over the 11th-ranked Longhorns was the highest on the road since the squad knocked off No. 1 Kansas, 68-64, on Jan. 17, 1994... It marked Frank Martin’s third win over a Top 25 team (3-4) in his career and the first on the road.

 

Kansas State played its second overtime game of the season, including its second consecutive on the road... It marked the first time since the 1967-68 season that the Wildcats have won two road conference games in overtime in same season (defeating Colorado, 57-56, on 1/15/68 and Kansas, 64-61, on 2/24/68)... The squad is now 63-36 all-time in overtime games, including 58-30 in single overtime games... The team also moved to 40-20 in overtime games in Big 12 play... The team evened its record to 1-1 against Texas in overtime games... It was the first overtime game in the series since Texas earned a 75-72 win on Feb. 12, 2005... It marked the first time since 1998-99 season that the team has won two overtime games in same season.

 

With the win, Kansas State improved to 363-303 (.544) all-time in the month of January, including wins in 17 of its last 24 games dating back to 2007... The win marks Kansas State’s third consecutive win in league play.

 

Kansas State scored 85 points on 38.2 percent shooting, including 66.7 percent from 3-point range... The team has now topped the 80-point barrier 11 times this season, including consecutive games in Big 12 play... The last time the Wildcats scored 80 or more points in back-to-back Big 12 games in 2007-08 against Iowa State (82, 1/26/08) and Kansas (84, 1/30/08)... The team connected on 10 or more 3-pointers for the fifth time this season, including consecutive games in Big 12 play... Since averaging 60 points on 38.4 percent shooting in its first four Big 12 games, the team has averaged 83.3 points on 45.8 percent shooting in its last three games.

 

Junior Denis Clemente tied Michael Beasley’s Big 12 record for points (at Baylor, 2/23/08) in a single game with his career-high 44 points... He went 13-of-25 from the field, including a perfect 6-of-6 from 3-point range, and 12-of-12 from the free throw line... The 44 points tied Beasley for the fifth-most points in a single-game in school history, including the second-most in a conference game... It was the most points by a guard since Askia Jones broke the school record with 62 points against Fresno State (3/24/94)... It was also the most points by a guard on an opposing team’s floor in school history... The 44 points also were the most by a single player in Erwin Center history, surpassing the 43 by Texas’ Reggie Freeman against Fresno State (12/14/96) and most by a visiting player, surpassing the 40 points scored by Rob Williams of Houston (1/10/81)... Clemente’s previous career was 24 done twice as a sophomore at Miami (Fla.) in 2006-07 against Virginia Tech (1/23/07) and Boston College (1/7/07)... Clemente posted double figures for the 13th time this season, including his second 20-point outing.

 

Sophomore Fred Brown was lone other Wildcat to score in double figures with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc... Kansas State is now 10-2 this season when two of its three guards (Clemente, Pullen or Brown) score in double figures in the same game (both losses have come with Brown and Clemente in double figures against Oregon and Oklahoma)... In all, eight players scored for the Wildcats, including five with five or more points.

 

Kansas State was out-rebounded for just fourth time this season by Texas, 44-42... Sophomore Ron Anderson led the squad with nine rebounds, while senior Darren Kent and redshirt freshman Jamar Samuels each had seven rebounds. 

 

Kansas State’s 11 steals were the most since tallying 12 against Emporia State (11/19/08)... Sophomore Dominique Sutton had a team-high three steals... It marked the eighth time had multiple steals in the same game.

 

Kansas State led for the second straight game at the half, 32-22... The team is now 13-1 when leading the half...

It marked the seventh time this season that the Wildcats have held an opponent to 25 points or less in a first half... The 22 points were the fewest yielded a Big 12 foe since also allowing 22 points against Oklahoma (3/4/07).
