Kansas State Quotes

Kansas State vs. Kansas
Kansas State Quotes
Kansas State Coach Frank Martin
On whether the play at the end of regulation was a foul...
"I have no idea. I do not talk about officiating. They have a hard job to do. The only thing that was frustrating was that two years ago against Oregon, when Jacob (Pullen) drives the ball and scores it, they have the courage to blow the whistle there and call a charge. Was there contact or not? I do not know. I will have to watch the film. If there was contact, they should call the foul, because it went against us two years ago. Officials have a hard job. For me to criticize them would get nothing done."

On his perspective of the game ...
"From a fan's perspective, I do not think you can complain about anything. If there is ever a better college basketball atmosphere, then I have never seen anything close to it. From a game perspective, I do not think you could get a better basketball game than that either. If you get technical we had major breakdowns in the end of overtime that cost us the game."

On the play of Wally Judge...
"Wally really cares. People think that this game is a lot easier than it is. You can ask these guys (Jacob Pullen and Dominique Sutton) here, they were in his shoes two years ago. He comes in here and he works. He is the one big guy on our team that goes to battle with Louis Colon every day in practice and doesn't back down. My heart goes out to him, because he is a good player and he is trying to figure college basketball out. He had some success today, and I was happy for that. It helps us as a team, and it is very rewarding for him."

On responding to KU's early second half run...
"It was us. They did not do anything special, they just kept playing hard from the tip. They came out in the second half and had guys play well. With the exception of that two-minute period, I was really happy with the focus and drive that we played with. They are a good basketball team. Cole Aldrich is the best center in college basketball. We dug that little hole in the beginning of the second half, and unfortunately, you cannot do that against big-boy teams."

Kansas State Player Quotes
Junior Guard Jacob Pullen
On what they take away from a game like this...
"There is good and bad to everything. We had some possessions that we could have capitalized on but we didn't. We had some opportunities to really put them on their heels and make them fold but we weren't able to take advantage of them. At the end of the day we've got to secure every rebound and we didn't get the chance to do that so we could have the final shot to go into another overtime and win the game."

On playing against Sherron Collins...
"We both want to see our teams win. You feel like you've got to do whatever you've got to do to win the game. I knew he wasn't going to back down and he knew I wasn't going to back down. It was all about winning. It had nothing to do with anything personal or 'I just need to score more points than you.' It was just about winning, who could make their team win and whatever you had to do. And at the end of the day, they beat us by some points and they won the game."

On the impact of the crowd on the game...
"It's the sixth man. In some ways it made them miss a few free throws and we just had to take advantage of it. It really affected them at times. They weren't able to call sets in time. The crowd did a great job for us, we just had to finish it out. We had to be physical without them and we just weren't able to do that."

Junior Forward Dominique Sutton
On the roller-coaster type of game that was played...
"I mean that's the type of game that we like to get into. Denis and (Jacob) Pullen, open transitions and easy baskets. We knew it was going to be that type of game from day one. That was something we had to get right into and it was just tough. We tried to grind it out and we just came up short."
