Kansas State vs. Iowa State
Iowa State Quotes
Head Coach Bill Fennelly
Opening Statement...
"K-State I thought played really well. Certainly, we had no answer for Ashley Sweat, it looked like we did not practice at all to prepare for her. We just got mauled in the post and that has been a concern of ours from time to time. We did not compete the way that we needed to inside. Not shooting that great, and not being as physically aggressive inside that we needed to be, that leads to getting beat in this league, and today that is what happened."

On the play of Ashley Sweat...
"She did anything that she wanted to do, it is like we did not practice or prepare for anything that she was going to do. She took it to the basket, we fouled her, a few times she hits threes, we are not supposed to stop guarding her but there were a few times when there was not a defender in sight of her. Good players make you pay and normally we are a team that understands that. The reason for any level of success for our team is if we defend smartly, and we did anything but that today. When you play a great player like that she makes you pay for it and she certainly did that today."

On K-State's perimeter defense...
"K-State does a good job of running their offense to the end of the shot clock. There was one time when there was two seconds left on the clock and had them buried on the post, and the person guarding Ashley Sweat decides to run away from her and give her an open three in the corner. That is how you get beat in this league, you win games by finishing plays and doing things at both ends of the floor. Defensively today, we were not very good, and that is what has allowed us to be somewhat successful this year. Today our defense was as bad as it has been in a long time."

Junior Guard, Kelsey Bolte
On their younger teammates adapting to their opponents...
"Kind of like what coach said, you have to learn on the fly, especially in their position. They come in here and have to play. It is just a matter of time; they will get a hang of it sometime. Alison [Lacey] and I got thrown into the same position and we know what is like and what they are going through."

On playing on the road at Bramlage Coliseum...

"We also had trouble coming in and playing well here the last three years. It is a really tough place to play. The crowd gets into it, their players get into it and their coaches get into it. It is just like any other place in the Big 12. It is just a really hard place to play."

Senior Guard, Alison Lacey
On what to expect from Kansas State...
"They are just good. They are on the ball. They help well. They do smart plays. They always have good game plans against us. They switch a lot of screens. Every year we know what to expect, they are just really smart and well-coached."
