Baylor Quotes

Head Coach Kim Mulkey

Opening Statement...

“I thought the defense end of the floor set the tone for us. We did everything that we were supposed to do with keeping Lehning out of the paint. We did everything we were supposed to do with not letting Dietz get a lot of open threes because. I thought our post players guarded the perimeter players for Kansas State well by switching. On the offensive end we took care of the basketball and we got a shot every time. We never got in a hurry, we just took our time and made sure that everybody got touches and we got production from a lot of people.”

On halftime adjustments to Marlies Gipson...

“First of all, I’m not sure that we made adjustments. Give her credit; in the first half she made some unbelievable shots. I don’t know that we changed anything, we just kept doing what we were doing and she missed shots in the second half but she made shots in the second half.”

On the effect of Jhasmin Player’s injury...

“The emotions were for Jhasmin. These kids love each other and very seldom do you get to coach players that truly care about the welfare of another. I think that is where all the emotion was. Jhasmin is one of our captains; no one out-works Jhasmin Player. We just wanted to hug her and love on her and say all the good things that you can. We were happy that we won, but those tears were from Jhasmin being hurt.”

Junior Forward Rachel Allison

On Jhasmin Player’s injury...

“I think that we played a lot off of emotions. You never want to see one of your teammates go down like that. The sounds that she made really hurt our hearts. I went over there and told her that we were going to win this one for you, and we did.”
