Missouri Quotes

Head Coach Cindy Stein

Opening statement...

“Obviously, we feel like we let a game slip away. We let them have some offensive boards where I felt like if we get those boards, we win the game. It’s disappointing, obviously, for us. I felt like we played good enough to win. Every possession counts in the Big 12. When you play great teams, K-State being one of them, every possession counts. We just let a few possessions slip by. We’ve got to continue to get better in that aspect.”

On being aggressive offensively in the low post...

“We wanted to do that anyway, I don’t think that was a game plan. We knew that they were going to go hard at us. The last few times we’ve played them, they’ve always attacked us with (Ashley) Sweat and (Marlies) Gipson. Obviously, their main three, with (Shalee) Lehning, Gipson and Sweat, everyone knows that (they’re going to attack). It’s hard to stop. We didn’t want to lay back and let them take it at us. We wanted to be aggressive.”

On their run to close the first half...

“I didn’t feel like they (K-State) were getting too far out in control. We were getting good shots and just not dropping them. What got us back going was dropping those shots. Our defense has always been pretty solid for us all year long. I felt like our defense was still doing the things for us they needed to do, it was just a matter of getting better shots. Obviously, K-State adjusted to that, too. In the second half, they started to be a lot more aggressive with us."
