K-State Player Quotes

Junior Forward Ashley Sweat

On their offense...

“I think I made some moves in the first half that I didn’t finish or could have gone stronger. We talked about being aggressive and coming out aggressive. I think there were some fouls that we probably should have got at the end of the first half and we have to just move on from that. We have to talk about being more aggressive and maybe we’ll get some of those calls. They got a couple fouls right in a row and then Shalin (Spani) came out and made a big shot. That helped out so much in being able to open up the inside for us.”

On offensive rebounding...

“We talk about offensive rebounding all the time. It’s one of those things, where in a situation like that, if you’re not crashing the boards, then there’s something wrong with you. I think that obviously, the key to the game was our offensive rebounds.”

Sophomore Guard Shalin Spani

On tough game from Missouri...

“I think the Big 12 in general is such a tough league, top to bottom. Any given night, anyone can come out and play well like we saw tonight. We have to bring it every single game and every single possession. Missouri is so tough and so athletic and they have a lot of things going for them. I just think they’ve gotten a little unlucky sometimes. They are an awesome opponent, and I think we were lucky to come out with a win tonight.”

On her big three in the second half...

“I think it’s all about Shalee (Lehning) penetrating and getting to the rim which opens up the outside and then it’s up to us shooters to knock them down. I think that’s what I like to do. It’s really good to be able to step up and hit that shot.”
