Nebraska Head Coach and Player Quotes

Nebraska Head Coach Connie Yori

On her thoughts of the game...

“I thought that was a game in which two teams really wanted to win. I thought K-State played with a real high degree of urgency and I thought they took it to us in the early part of the first half and they came out ready to win this game. They were very consistent in transition and we were on our heals early. I thought we settled down and did a better job in transition and we made more plays in the second half. I thought our players showed good composure and toughness. Our players wanted to win too and I think it was a matter of depth for us. We have a little bit more depth than they do and that clearly factored into the game. ”

On excitement of the team...

“I think our players have an expectation and I think that’s a good thing. We aren’t going to celebrate on someone’s home court. This was a great win for us; we had not here in eternity and our seniors were 0-4 here and it was a great win but we did our celebration in an appropriate fashion.”

On depth of the team...

“It’s a nice luxury; you don’t get it every year. What’s good is that our players are ready to go; they know if they are called upon they are ready. Our bench practices well and if you practice well, when you are called upon you will be ready to contribute. Our bench has stayed focused and I really like our freshman class a lot. They haven’t had to play a lot for us but they are good practice players. They are going to be really good players for us on the court and today they came through for us.”

Senior Forward Chelsea Aubry
On being the leader on the team...

“I just keep them calm and try to give them confidence because I know what every single one of them can do and they just need to have that confidence to do it. If we just consistently play well then we can reinforce to them that we can play in any league.”

Senior Guard Ashley Ford

On the importance of winning the game...

“It’s huge. I’m kind of speechless we haven’t won here since I’ve been here. It’s been a tough place to play and K-State is very good at home. It’s big to win a game anywhere on the road in the Big 12 but since we haven’t won here in a while, this is particularly special.”
