Kansas State Coach Quotes

Head Coach Bob Huggins

On K-State’s defense...

“I thought it was really good at the beginning of the second half. We just had too many lapses. I thought for a while that they were starting to cut those lapses. Akeem (Wright) is really good. He is long and he bothers people. We weren’t very good today. Give Ricardo (Patton) credit. I thought his kids came out and were really physical. They were the most physical team that we have played in a long time. They were really physical to start out with us.”

On the second half...

That is the best stretch that we have had defensively in quite a while. We are going to get better, or we are going to get worse. If you want to get worse, that is fine. I’m not going to stay up until five in the morning anymore watching tape. If you are happy where you are at, that is fine. They worked really hard to put themselves in a pretty good position. To not finish it off would be a travesty.”

On the upcoming game against Nebraska...

“We have to go play. We can’t shoot 32 percent again. When you don’t score a lot of points, you have to be pretty good defensively. We are trying to score more points. I haven’t had a guy miss a lay up by hitting it underneath the rim like that since I coached fifth graders. We can’t miss the wide open two-footers that we continue to miss. We don’t get very many to start with and then you can’t miss wide open shots. Teams that miss wide open shots go home real quick.”
