Kansas State Player Quotes

Junior Forward David Hoskins

On bouncing back from the Kansas loss ...

“(Coach Huggins) just knew that we needed to play better. As the week has went on, we’ve been working defensively. He just sent a message that we needed to get back to what we were doing.”

On the Colorado win...

“It was good to come out tonight and get a nice win, but we know that we need to be a lot better when we play Nebraska on Tuesday. This was a good first step (to make a run at the NCAA tournament) because this was a team we were supposed to beat. When you get a team like this, you have to beat them or it’s going to hurt you in the RPI.”

On his playing time in the second half of the Kansas game...

“I was disappointed because I didn’t play as much as I’d like. But, I wasn’t playing like coach would like me to. I knew I had to readjust what I was doing and come out with a different attitude defensively.”

Senior Guard Lance Harris

On playing time...

“I wasn’t playing as much as I wanted to play. I just had to bounce back, think about the next game against Colorado, and now we’re focusing on Nebraska.”

On the coaches challenging the seniors...

“(Coach Huggins) has challenged us a lot. He expects us to step up a little bit more than what we have been showing. From the previous teams he’s had, he says the seniors have to step up and show the underclassmen how it’s supposed to be done.”

On not being in the starting lineup...

“I just knew that I’d have to come off the bench and give my team energy, and do what I do.”

Senior Forward Cartier Martin

On moving into seventh place on K-State’s scoring list...

“It’s a great accomplishment, but it’s all due to my teammates. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be able to score the ball. I have to give all the props to them and the coaches. This was a good win for us tonight, but now we have to focus on playing Nebraska there.”

On the scoring record...

“It means a lot from a personal standpoint. That’s not really my focus right now though. My focus is on winning games now and take the team as far as we can go. Later on down the road when I’m done playing I’ll be able to look back on this.”

On Coach Huggins challenging the seniors...

“He has challenged the seniors a lot, just because we are the more experienced players. It’s both a personal challenge and a challenge for the seniors to go out strong our last year. He definitely expects the seniors to be the leaders out there on the court and to make the least amount of mistakes. We have to carry the team.”
