K-State Player Quotes

Senior Forward Darren Kent

On the start of tonight’s game...

“We had great intensity like we wanted to. We’ve been preaching that all week, to have high intensity to get them out of their (Texas Tech) offense. By doing that, we created turnovers and got some transition points.”

On still having something to prove this year...

“Absolutely. We started off poor but we didn’t lose faith. We kept on coming in every day and we worked hard. We learned that the guys on our team can get it done, and we just haven’t lost faith in that. We just need to keep working hard like we have been and just keep rolling. If we keep playing with the same intensity that we have been, then we know we have a chance to beat whoever we are playing”

Sophomore Guard Jacob Pullen

On owning tonight’s game...

“We did own it the first half. We really came out and played well. None of us forgot about what happened last year. They (Texas Tech) embarrassed us on national TV. We thought about that game all year, and we were able to come back and get some revenge. The first 16 minutes, we played outstanding defense. They (Texas Tech) weren’t getting anything they wanted to get out of their offense.”

On playing KU Saturday...

“This is what we’ve all been waiting for and it’s here. We went to their (KU) place and started out really bad. We didn’t get a flow going on offense. They ended up getting up real big, and we had to fight to get back in the game. We used all our energy just trying to get back in it so we didn’t have enough to finish. When we play Saturday, we have to start the game like we did tonight.  It would mean a lot (to beat KU.) It would prove a lot for us as a team. From the start of the season to now, people still say that without Mike (Beasley), we still can’t do this and that, but if we win Saturday, it’ll prove how hard we’ve worked since we lost to Wisconsin and since we knew we weren’t going to have Mike (Beasley) and Bill (Walker) this year.”

Sophomore Guard Dominique Sutton

On how good the team is feeling with a six-game winning streak...

“We are feeling good. We’re going to move on now that this game is over with and focus on KU. We’re excited that we won six straight games but it’s over now so we have to get ready for tomorrow’s practice.”
