Kansas State Player Quotes

Guard Kari Kincaid

On assuming a leadership role...

“l’ve learned so much from playing with Shalee (Lehning). I really focused in practice this week, because I knew there was a chance I would have to play point guard with Shalee being day-to-day. I really just took it upon myself to really stay focused and do what my team needed me to do. I’m not going to be Shalee Lehning, no one really can. I really just tried to take care of the ball and get us into our offense.”

Forward Jalana Childs

On her rebounding and free throw shooting...

“When it comes to free throws that’s something we work on constantly in practice. I’m a good free throw shooter, but when it comes to the game my numbers don’t show that. We need to continue to work on it at practice, me personally, I need to work on them more. As far as rebounding goes, I guess I just got hops.”

On her size advantage...

“I think I just had a lot of energy because it was my first start. I think energy was a big part of it. It was like an out of body experience for me. This is the best feeling I could have right now.”

Forward Ashley Sweat

On if she felt pressured to score tonight...

“I say this every game, but I want to do things for my team that they need me to do in that game, whether its points or rebounding. Tonight I just had the looks, especially with Jalana (Childs) and Marlies (Gipson) inside, I had a mismatch almost every time. I think it shows a lot of maturity in a team to be able to find those mismatches. Our guards did a good job of getting me the ball. In combination with Jalana finishing (shots) I think you see the results in the score.”

Guard Kelsey Nelson

On her three-point shooting today...

“I was just out there. They were having to pay a lot of attention to our posts, which then opens up the outside shot and today they were going in.”
