K-State Player Quotes

Junior Forward Marlies Gipson
On the team staying together...
“Shalee (Lehning) is definitely a great leader, pulling us all back together and just keeping us calm. When things don’t go our way, just not giving up is definitely a good thing.”

On the Big 12 race...
“We’re still tied for first place. We have four more games in the Big 12, and each one is going to be a battle. We can’t take anyone lightly, and we have to be ready to play.”

Sophomore Forward Ashley Sweat
On her performance offensively...
“I think it was obviously one of my better games on the offensive end. But I think that attributes a lot to the fact that I think I had a mismatch, only because I feel like Ashley Paris plays inside all the time, and she’s not used to coming out and guarding someone who shoots or drives. I think that caused a lot of issues, and that’s a lot of the reason why I had a good night offensively you could say. I think it’s good for me. It gets my confidence back up a little bit, and I think we are all going to be ready to go to Colorado.”

Junior Guard Shalee Lehning
On if the team can take anything from the loss...
“Every game you come out, there is something you can take from the game to learn from and grow from. We are going to obviously use this. We didn’t do some things down the stretch that we needed to do in order to win the game. Luckily we have been doing them in some of the past games, and it has won us the close ones. We’ll learn from this. We aren’t going to dwell on it. We have a great road ahead of us, and we’re very excited for the upcoming games.”
