Kansas State Player Quotes

Senior Guard Claire Coggins

On the closing minutes of the game...

“There were poor decisions by me. That is really all that happened. I made a terrible decision.”

On the loss ...

“Today’s loss hurts a lot. I think we were in a great position to win the game. We are not going to give up. We still have games to play. We just have to take this horrible feeling from this loss and try to come back and work on things to put us in a position to make sure we don’t have this type of loss again.”

On if the emotions of Senior Day affected her...

“That is hard to say. I didn’t feel any different whenever I stepped on the court. There is really no excuse. I don’t care if it’s Senior Day or the last game of my life, there is no excuse for the type of numbers I put up today. Some people can look at it and say it’s Senior Day and she was emotional, but I don’t really accept that at all.”

Sophomore Guard Shalee Lehning

On her play in the second half ...

“In the first half, I obviously had some good looks and I made them. In the second half, I wasn’t as productive on the offensive end, but they had switched up some things on the defensive end and we switched up some things on offense. It was just a matter of what needed to be done. We tried to get it inside a little bit more in the second half.”

On the play of Lindsey Medders...

“Lindsey is a great point guard. She’s the best in the Big Twelve, and so she definitely came out and made the plays when she needed to. That is the sign of a great point guard. No matter what kind of game you have had up to that point, the last two or three minutes of the game is when you can step up and make some plays. She is the one that drove, and I stepped off too much and gave up the three. Hopefully, when I am a senior, I will be making the same plays.”

Freshman Forward Ashley Sweat

On her play defensively ...

“Well, coming back around and playing everybody for the second time, I think you learn from the mistakes you make the first time. The last time we played Iowa State I was stepping out and helping the guards too much. So this time, I wanted to stay back and focus more.”
