Texas Tech Head Coach and Player Quotes

Head Coach Kristy Curry

On team's performance...
"It was about coming out and being aggressive, we always want to come out and ensure that we play aggressively. Good things can happen and we wanted to get to the free throw line and make more free throws. We wanted to make more free throws than K-State did in overtime. Both teams were in the bonus and you have to credit these two seniors (Jordan Murphree and Ashlee Roberson) for doing a good job and making shots when it counted. We missed four free throws in regulation that would have made a difference and we made them when it counted, again it's about being aggressive and getting to the foul line."

On the play of seniors...
"This win is huge, I am so proud of these kids. We have been through so much, especially Jordan (Murphree) and Ashlee (Roberson). Roberson came in and helped us out and really filled her senior role. Murphree is the only four year holdover. It is tough to leap frog people in this league and we are sitting in a great spot right now. We have a chance at the NCAA tournament and there would not be anything more special to see Murphree and Roberson finish their careers that way. They deserve it. Tonight was a must-win and I'm proud of these kids. They found a way down the stretch to rebound and defend and we got stops when we needed them. We also scored and got to the free throw line when we needed to."

On high energy play...
"We just made a lot of hustle plays, you have to defend on the road. We have to defend and rebound, those are two things you can control and we have really been rebounding better since the Colorado game. There were a lot of contributions that maybe don't show up on the stat sheet all night long by our younger kids. I don't think that people realize we have ten freshmen and sophomores, we are extremely young. I don't think the freshman class gets the credit that they deserve in this league for what they have done."

Senior Guard Jordan Murphree

On overtime play...
"I definitely had to redeem myself, we had a chance to win it at the end and we missed four free throws. I think we weren't playing as well so I decided to get into the paint. I was able to elevate over them. It was definitely a must-win for us and I think we came out and fought hard."

Senior Ashlee Roberson

On mentality of the game...
"Coming into the game we had the mentality of getting to the NCAA for our seniors. It was important for us to go out the right way. We are going to lead the underclassmen to the NCAA."
