Kansas State Head Coach and Player Quotes

Head Coach Deb Patterson

Opening statement...
"This was a game where Jordan Murphree stepped up big time for her basketball team. I thought she played a great game all in all, so compliments to her. I felt that the second half was pretty important for us because we stepped up and improved ourselves on the offensive end, playing with some assertiveness and some quality possessions that we did not have in the first half. We got the opportunity to go into overtime, unfortunately, we went back to wasting possessions and I think that is the element of the game that we have to continue to put before us and bring a discipline to. We are not making the quality basketball decisions that are putting us in positions to win games. The second half we were better, it has been a long time since our second half was better than our first half. I thought we battled hard and did a nice job all in all defensively on the night with the exception of overtime. They were good shots that Texas Tech earned in overtime, they had some playmaking going on and some big shots, and we were wasting ours on the offensive end."

On what K-State needs to improve...
"We survived a lot and we just did not play the last five minutes of the game well. We are learning every trip down the floor that we have to find a way to get ourselves quality touches, to share the basketball and to get shots in the basket. Right now our decision making is a little scattered. I am not sure necessarily right now that we have any go-to plays. There are issues that we need to continue to address because we still have some season left. We saw some improvement in the second half, it has been a long time since we shot 60-percent from the floor, but it did not win us a basketball game."

Senior Guard Kari Kincaid

On what needs to be done to finish the season strong...
"Playing on the road is just another obstacle to overcome because you do not have the support or comfort level you do at home. For our team, we just have to be so hungry to get just one win, or just to get one basket. That is what it is coming down to. You just have to want it so bad. Especially on the road, so that is what we have to bring."

On her good shooting performance...
"I think I just got some open shots, but I am not too excited about points right now. I am more upset that (Jordan) Murphree had 26 points when I was guarding her. It was nice to make shots, but it does not mean much when you lose."

Freshman Guard Brittany Chambers

On the last play of regulation...
"I was just trying to make a play at the end. Their team split the floor and I just took it up the court and made the shot."
