Postgame Notes

With the loss, Kansas State now trails in the all-time series with the Cowgirls 25-26... K-State holds a 12-8 mark in Manhattan... Oklahoma State snapped a four-game losing skid against K-State... The last time Oklahoma State defeated the Wildcats was on Jan. 19, 2002 with a 68-60 victory in Stillwater... The loss marks the first time that K-State has dropped five games in a row at home since the 1992-93 season... K-State is now 10-5 at home this season and 80-15 at home since the 2001-02 season.

 

The Wildcats’ starting lineup Wednesday night consisted of: senior guard Claire Coggins, junior guard Kimberly Dietz, sophomore guard Shalee Lehning, sophomore forward Danielle Zanotti and freshman forward Ashley Sweat... The Wildcats are now 1-1 using this starting lineup this season... Coggins, Dietz and Lehning have started every game in 2006-07 for the Wildcats... Lehning has now started 56 consecutive games, dating back to a 77-66 victory over Louisiana Tech on Dec. 6, 2005... Tonight’s game marked Coggins’ 37th-straight start and her 90th overall... Dietz has started 53 games in her Wildcat career... Zanotti made her first start since playing at Iowa State on Jan. 27... In her freshman campaign, Sweat has started ten games for the Cats.

 

Wildcat seniors Claire Coggins and Naytanda Smith made their final appearances in Bramlage Coliseum Wednesday night... A product of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Coggins has appeared in 119 games for the Wildcats and currently sits in 15th-place on K-State’s all-time scoring list with 1,208 points... Smith, who hails from Enid, Okla., has seen action in 84 games during her career.

 

The Wildcats blocked four shots on the night, totaling 142 for the season... Kansas State has recorded three or more blocks in 23 of their 29 games this season, led by Shana Wheeler with 50.

 

K-State trailed the Cowgirls 35-27 at the half... The Wildcats are now 1-11 this season when behind at the break.

 

Dietz led the Wildcats in scoring Wednesday night, dropping 13 of her 23 points in the second half... She has led K-State in scoring in eight games this season and her total was the most since tallying 25 at Iowa State on Jan. 27... This was only the fifth time this season that K-State hasn’t had three or more players reach double figures in scoring in a single game.

 

Dietz connected on five three-point baskets in the contest, the third time she has hit five or more this season... Including the two tonight, Coggins has connected on at least two three-point baskets in 16 games this year... The Wildcats as a team hit nine deep balls, their most since they dropped 10 at Colorado on Jan. 31.

 

Naytanda Smith tied her career high with six points in the game, her highest point total of the season... Her last six-point showing came at Santa Clara on Nov. 26, 2005.

 

Wednesday night’s attendance was 4,088.
