Kansas State vs. Nebraska
Kansas State Quotes

Head Coach Deb Patterson
Opening statement...
"I want to start by congratulating Nebraska on their history-making run through the Big 12 season. That is a phenomenal achievement to go 16-0 and 29-0. It is a treat to watch Kelsey Griffin play basketball. She is a big-time player and she stepped up today and I am sorry that it was at our expense. I certainly believe without question that she is a viable candidate for National Player of the Year. She has her team in position for Big 12 history and national history. This was a great, competitive Big 12 basketball game. The biggest thing for us was in the second half, we did not shoot well. "

On the two seniors, Kari Kincaid and Ashley Sweat...
"Everyone here at K-State has a great appreciation for Ashley and Kari. It goes without saying that Ashley Sweat is one of the top five players to ever put on a K-State uniform. She has been a program-elevator and a program-changer for us over the course of her four-year career. Kari Kincaid is a phenomenal leader and is as tough as a competitor as we have had the opportunity to coach. Both of these seniors are tremendous student-athletes, as well as people of character off the floor ."

On the second half...
"I was glad that we did not fold up the tent and let them completely dominate in the second half. We were not efficient of the offensive end and we got a little more passive on the defensive end. What changed the game was the first four minutes of the second half. It is a positive that we fought through that and stayed in the game.

Kansas State Player Quotes
Forward Ashley Sweat
On the environment for senior day...
"It was so amazing, that first half. You are right, there was a lot of emotion in the locker room and I'm just so happy at the improvements that we have made over the past couple games. I think that getting that win at Colorado was so big for us. That was a win that was desperately needed. Now, with an opportunity to go into the Big 12 tournament and play in the 8/9 game, that's a great opportunity for us."

On the play of Nebraska senior forward Kelsey Griffin ...
"I said this before, but I think she is just a workhorse. I think she works so hard every possession. She has incredible body control and she's a great back to the basket player. She can step out and then drive you to the basket. She's great on defense. I think she is just one of those do it all players who literally does everything that she has to do to get her team victories and that is what makes her a candidate for player of the year in my opinion. I know that all of us here at Kansas State have so much respect for her as a player and she can do it all, she's a very good player."

Guard Kari Kincaid
On her senior day...
"I remember when they sounded the buzzer at the 12 minute mark and I looked at Ashley as we were walking over and was like, 'Is this happening?' and we were both like 'no.' That was really emotional for sure, as you all saw, but that is just life. We love what we do here and all of the blessings and the experience that come with it. Also being around such wonderful coaches and people and the city of Manhattan, this is our home. It was so fun that people came out to support us and made us signs. That is just what makes everything so special."
