Colorado Quotes

Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik

Opening statement...

“You’re not going to win a basketball game when Kansas State has 23 offensive rebounds and we turn it over 24 times. With such a young team, here is the bottom line. We do not have enough depth, experience, and physicality. It’s plain and simple. We have been in every game except for one or two in the Big 12. The depth is correctable through recruiting. The physicality is correctible by lifting weights while appreciating and understanding the importance of those kinds of things.”

On the defensive pressure of K-State...

“When we break their press, we have to attack. We brought it back and allowed their defense to rekindle so to speak. Some of that has to do with being strong with the ball. We took away three layup opportunities because of traveling. We also had a lot of unforced turnovers.”

On being outrebounded by K-State...

“You have to make free throws and rebound the ball. If you do not rebound the ball, you are not going to win. We have lost 11 games by an average of four points. It’s about us. We have to rebound the ball, finish plays and play to our potential. ”

Freshman Forward Toby Veal

On the intensity of the game...

“I’m surprised that we did not handle their defensive pressure well. In practice we worked on their press a lot with special ways to break it. At the beginning of the game we came out more aggressive, but they came out with more intensity in the second half. ”

On preparing for the Big 12 tournament...

“The season is not over yet as we are looking forward to the Big 12 tournament. Anything can happen down in Oklahoma City. We are looking forward to working very hard in practice in order to surprise everyone. It does not matter who we play, as I think we can play with anyone in the Big 12 if we play as hard as we can.”
