K-State Player Quotes

Sophomore Guard Jacob Pullen

On the start of today’s game...

“We just didn’t play well in the first half. We just got caught up in Senior Day and didn’t come out with a lot of energy and they made shots. The second half, we got more efficient and had more energy. Defensively, we just picked it up by getting a lot of steals and forcing turnovers.”

On the importance of today’s game...

“It was very important. This is a big week coming up for us. It can decide our fate on whether we get the NCAA or NIT. Today’s game and the next two days in practice are very important.”

On going into the postseason...

“We’ve played these last two games to decide our future and to decide our fate on our own, even thought we didn’t come up with a few of them. Now we have a chance to go into the Big 12 tournament and play some teams that we are actually looking forward to playing. Hopefully, it will give us a chance to show the committee and whoever else that we can play.”

On going into the postseason...

“There are some games going on today that could put us in fourth and give us the bye for the first round (of the Big 12 tournament) that way we only have to play three games in three days instead of four. It’s kind of in other team’s hands, but it is still in ours, too, because we have to go out and win games.”

Freshman Forward Jamar Samuels

On going into the postseason...

“At the beginning of the season, they treated us like we were one of the bottom teams in the Big 12. Just like Jake (Pullen) said, if we win today, we can finish in fourth. I’m not sure what the team finished last year, but I know it was in the top five (in the Big 12), so that’s a pretty good accomplishment.”

On Coach Martin’s halftime talk and second half play...

“We got a good speech and it got us motivated for the second half. We came out stronger in the second half. It was a great effort.”
