Press Conference Quotes

Head Coach Frank Martin

Opening statement...
"I am ecstatic for our kids and I am glad that they were rewarded for all their efforts this year by being able to play as close to home as possible."

On his thoughts about the matchups...
"They are all good. There is not an easy game in this tournament. If you start to get picky about who you play, you forget about where we were a year ago. We are just ecstatic to be in this tournament."

On whether he knows anything about North Texas...
"(Assistant coach) Matt Figger knows a little about them. I know their coach pretty good and Matt knows some of their players. Matt was at South Alabama so he kind of knows the style of play from competing against them in conference play. I do not know a lot about their personnel but we will start figuring that out tonight."

On whether he likes the way the bracket is set up for K-State...
"I am just happy we are in Oklahoma City. All of those other teams are good. BYU, Florida, and North Texas are all good. I think Pittsburgh was second-place in the Big East at the end of the regular season and that is hard to do. There is not going to be an easy game for us in the bracket. Every single game is going to be a grind like the last three we just played. I am happy that we get to play so close to the state of Kansas so our fans continue to support our guys."

Junior Guard Jacob Pullen

On whether he feels good about their seed...
"I think we have a great opportunity. I think the bracket is set up for us to really have a chance to make a deep run."

On whether he knows much about North Texas...
"No. I couldn't tell anyone about what they try to do. But in a day or two I will know all about them from the film we are about to start watching."

Sophomore Forward Jamar Samuels

On the range of emotions from yesterday to today...
"Yesterday was pretty low for us. Today it is extremely high and we are ready to come into practice tomorrow."

On what he notices about the teams they may play...
"BYU and North Texas are good teams. I actually had a chance to see North Texas play the other day. I saw one of their players hit the game winning shot to win the conference tournament. I am not sure of his name but they are a good team and very athletic. We are really looking forward to it."

On whether he has thought about playing KU in the final four yet...
"I have not thought that far ahead yet. It is tournament time, 'March Madness,' so everyone is good. If you are in the tournament that means you are one of the 64 best teams in the country."
