K-State Player Quotes

Senior Forward Darren Kent

On his crucial blocked shot at the end of the game...

“Late in the game, we discussed switching on the ball screens because they were creating problems for us earlier. I switched off on one with Denis and I was looking for him (ISU player) to pull up but he hesitated and got by me. Fortunately, there was enough help in the lane where I was able to back off and be there for the block.”

Sophomore Guard Jacob Pullen

On Dominique Sutton’s tip-in at the end of the game...

“Coach told Dominique (Sutton) before he shot the free throw if we missed and we were down two, just go for the two and run a play that we hadn’t run before for me to make a three. When I got the handoff from Denis (Clemente), I just tried to get to the basket in time to get the shot off. When I looked at it I thought it was bouncing in and I saw Dominique (Sutton) flying out of nowhere and tipping it in. He (Dominique Sutton) was just being alert and ready to play.”

On his three at the end of overtime...

“Same play. It was the same call from coach. He looked at me and Denis (Clemente) and he said run one’ again and Denis (Clemente) told me when I get it and they switch the ball screen like they did last time just get in the lane and I’ll either have him in the corner (Denis Clemente) or a layup. This time, I just actually had a wide open layup and I finally converted on one.”
