Illinois Head Coach Theresa Grentz quotes

Illinois Head Coach Theresa Grentz

Opening statement...
“You really have to take your hat off to the Kansas State team. They hit some really big three-pointers and we didn’t.”

On what Kansas State did in the second half to pull away...

“I don’t know that it was any one particular extra thing that they were doing, other than they were doing it and we weren’t. We had our opportunities to get the ball inside and then we dribbled it all over the place. I can think of at least three times when we had the ball knocked out of our hands. We had to take the wings and try to post them up which I thought worked for us, but they hit some key shots. ”

On what they expected coming into the game tonight from Kansas State...
“Pretty much what we saw. Deb Patterson’s teams play very hard and they get after it. We knew they would do that. We knew that it was going to be a nip and tuck type of ball game; you expect that in the postseason. I thought that we took some possessions off defensively, and that was unfortunate because our defense has been the one thing that carried us most of the season.”
