Kansas State Defensive Player Quotes

Senior Defensive End Rob Jackson

On the offenses’ struggles against the defenses...

“I think they had a bad day. I think the mixture of guys they had that were working with each other just didn’t click. In practice, if you have been out there, you know that we’re both going at it back and forth.”

On his highlights from the game...

“I had a few of themall of the turnovers that the white team got. All of them were real good moments for me. Everyone was swarming to the ball. We shut them down pretty good today.

Senior Defensive Back Justin McKinney

On getting back to a game atmosphere...

“It felt good. I think we could have been a little looser on my side, but it felt good.”

On the offenses’ struggles against the defenses...

“I just think we came out a little flat today. I don’t think we played bad or anything. We’re playing against our team. There’s just a lot less aggression and enthusiasm. But other than that, I think they were just a little flat.

Junior Defensive End Ian Campbell

On his thoughts on how both teams played...

“I thought the effort on both sides was really good. I thought there was a lot of intensity. I felt like our offensive line played really well. Rob Jackson did a good job of giving a lot of pressure. Reggie Walker wasn’t feeling very good, but he still played and did a good job. We had some good play by our secondary, because the purple team was obviously passing the ball a lot. I was pretty pleased with Carson’s (Coffman) performance. I thought he did a tremendous job. He was very poised from the pocket. You couldn’t ask more from a quarterback. He got the W’ for us. I felt our defense did exactly what they are supposed to do. They got turnovers and created great field position.”

Senior Defensive Back Bryan Baldwin
On playing for the first time in a year...
“It felt great. I couldn’t wait to get back out there. (The interception) let me know that I’ve still got it. I’ve been away for a long time, so it felt good getting back in there and see that I’ve still got the same skills that I had before. I think it was a good game. I’m not so sure the purple team had much fun, but we did.”

Senior Punter Tim Reyer

On his play tonight...

“Well, obviously I’m happy because my side won. I’m pretty excited about all of my punts landing inside the 20-yard line. I got some lucky bounces, but everything went well.”

On the competition for the punting job...

“The first game is not until September, so a lot can happen between now and then. I’m not going to say I have the job. I am just happy with the way things went today.”
