Offensive Player Quotes

Senior Quarterback Carson Coffman

On calling the plays during the game....
"I was calling the plays and they didn't want me to be conservative. They told me to just call whatever you want and try to score as many points as possible. And whenever we were down in the second half, we had to pass."

On feeling more like the starting quarterback after this game...
"Yeah I think so. I went out and had a pretty good day today and proved to the coaches and  my teammates that I'm ready to lead this team."

Senior Wide Receiver Aubrey Quarles

On how the game was...
"It was fun. We got to finally get out of practice mode and get into a scrimmage game mode. We were all flying around out there and we had a great time "

On getting to be back in the game again...
"It feels great. Last year I had a rough time trying to get on the field but now I'm back out there. I was able to go through the  scrimmage and have a pretty good scrimmage but there are some things that I need to pick up on. But I felt great as far as my health throughout the scrimmage."

On how he has changed as a player....
"I got my confidence back now. I've got a year under the program and I got my health back and I'm just out there ready to have a good season."

On his feelings about the other receivers...
"As a unit I feel that we have a pretty good receiving core. I keep hearing that we've got a lot of size on us and we've got to take advantage of that by being more physical on the blocks and getting more yards after the catch. So that's the big difference that I see."

Sophomore Wide Receiver Brodrick Smith

On being new to the program...
"It was a long road for me but I think it was worth it. I appreciate the coaches having patience with me and for bringing me into this program, letting me get accustomed to this program, and just letting me do what I did tonight."

On his chemistry with Carson Coffman...
"Carson did a great job tonight. Our line did a really good job of blocking too. Carson and I have been working together all spring and tonight it came along. Going out there together every day in spring ball we have come together pretty good actually; trusting each other, getting to know where we are going to go. There is always room for improvement though."

On becoming the go-to guy...
"We have a really good receiving group. I think that if all of us just keep working hard we could all be the go-to guy. We will just have to see what comes around in the fall. Tonight felt good but there is always room for improvement. This summer we will just go out on the field with the quarterbacks and the other receivers and just try to work to get better every day."

Sophomore Fullback Braden Wilson

On his progression as a player over the spring...
"I feel like I have been progressing quite a bit. I have just been trying to work really hard this spring on fundamentals and stuff like that. I have just been trying to improve myself in all parts of the game. I feel like I have been coming along well lately."

On the intensity he brings to practice and games...
"That is just the way that I was brought up to play football. I try to always play at 100 miles-per-hour, to just go 100 percent all of the time. That is how I have always played and that is how I always try to play. "

Senior Offensive Lineman Wade Weibert

On the fun of the spring game...
"I had a blast.  This was my last spring game, so all of us seniors went into it with the attitude that is was our last chance to have a good time at a spring game."

On the beginning and end of the game...
"We were pretty consistent throughout the whole game.  We were able to score a lot and put up a lot of points, but then at the very end Coach Snyder pointed out to us in the locker room that we had two running plays that would have been losses, when the game depended on it.  We finally punched it in, but we can't be doing that."

On Carson Coffman's confidence...
"I think he is very confident right now.   I thought that today was probably the best.  We took that next step today, and I would say that it is what you want to do every day take that next step forward.  So that is what Carson did today; he stepped it up as a player and a leader."

Senior Running Back Daniel Thomas

On his improvement over the spring...
"I feel like I got better fundamentally, and that is what I really wanted to focus on this offseason.  I wanted to focus on ball security and my footwork."

On his thoughts of the offense...
"I think we are pretty good, especially with the wide receivers Brodrick Smith and Aubrey Quarles.  We have been passing a lot more this season."
