MANHATTAN, Kan. – Following a year that saw record attendance at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and Bramlage Coliseum, as well as a promotional campaign that became an overnight internet sensation, K-State’s fan experience and sales department has been named one of three finalists for the NACMA Marketing Team of the Year Award, the organization has announced.
The fan experience and sales team is led by Associate Athletics Director Scott Garrett and Director of Fan Experience and Sales Joni Smoller, while Assistant Director of Fan Strategies Adam Prough, graduate assistants Bethany Cordell and Phil Lewicki, and an elite group of student interns comprise the staff.
“Our team is absolutely terrific and continues to set a national standard for excellence in their field,” Athletics Director John Currie said. “The staff prides itself on efficiency and creativity as it provides the best fan experience in the Big 12, and I couldn’t be more proud of them for this recognition.”

The award-winning staff has helped increase overall ticket revenue at K-State to nearly $16 million on an operating budget of $290,000 and create new ticket initiatives that have led to across-the-board attendance records. The 2012 football season saw a school-record-tying six home sellouts, operating capacity at over 100-percent for the seven-game home schedule and a 97-percent fan experience satisfaction rate based on fan surveys at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
K-State also enjoyed increased student ticket sales for football and men’s basketball by over 1,000 passes this year to over 8,000 student season tickets while being one of just 13 schools nationally to have over 12,000 in paid attendance at every home men’s basketball game over the last three seasons. Bramlage Coliseum also operated at over 100-percent capacity for the 2012-13 season, while the Wildcats ranked in the Top 25 nationally in attendance in volleyball.

K-State increased season-ticket sales in all five ticketed sports and set revenue records for both football and men's basketball while it also entered the 2012-13 academic year as the back-to-back Big 12 Pack the House challenge winner for women’s basketball.
The department’s “16 Goals” promotional campaign for football, which was a collaborative effort with the K-StateHD.TV, internet services and athletics communications staffs, took the internet and various social media platforms by storm this past summer. The 16-part video series highlighting Coach Snyder’s 16 Goals for Success quickly became a fan-favorite and was a precursor to the 2012 Big 12 Championship season.

The winners of the award will be announced at the annual NACMA convention in June, which will be held in Orlando, Fla.
