K-State Statements on Big 12/SEC Bowl Agreement

K-State President Dr. Kirk Schulz issued a statement on the new Big 12/SEC bowl agreement.

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State University President Dr. Kirk Schulz and Director of Athletics John Currie made the following statements earlier today in regards to the new five-year agreement by the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference to have their football champions meet in a postseason bowl game following the 2014 season.

K-State President Kirk Schulz:
"With this agreement, the Big 12 has taken yet another step forward as one of the nation's premier athletic conferences.  Our conference has strong leadership and is well-positioned to serve the member institutions and provide opportunities for our student-athletes to compete at the highest levels."
K-State Director of Athletics John Currie:
"Today's announcement is yet another validation of the Big 12's accelerating forward trajectory as a leadership conference in college athletics.  I am grateful for the leadership of Chuck Neinas and incoming Commissioner Bob Bowlsby, and President Schulz and the Big 12 Board of Directors for their commitment to the bright future of our league."
