Communications Staff Honored at CoSIDA Convention

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State Athletics Communication staff received a total of six national honors for excellence in design for 2013-14, which were the fifth-most of any school in the country, during CoSIDA's annual national convention in Orlando, Florida.

The department earned national runner-up finishes for the 2013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl media guide and the 2013 football season yearbook/game program, while the 2013-14 men's basketball media guide placed third in the nation.

In addition to the accolades received for the media guides, a number of K-State's posters received recognition as well. The posters for the K-State baseball and rowing teams finished second and fourth, respectively, in the spring poster contest, while the men's basketball poster was the national runner-up.

"I am proud of our staff and pleased that their hard work continues to be recognized nationally by their peers," Assistant A.D. for Communications Kenny Lannou said. "Our staff takes tremendous pride in not only producing high quality materials but also providing top-notch service to our coaches, student-athletes, media and fans each and every day."

Over the last five years Kansas State's publications have reached impressive heights in national judging with 21 media guides earning Top 5 national honors. The men's basketball media guide and football yearbook was written and designed by Associate Athletics Communications Director Tom Gilbert, while the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl media guide was written and designed by Assistant Athletics Communications Director Ryan Lackey and Lannou.

The posters as well as the cover of each of Kansas State's media guide were produced by Director of Graphics Design Ron Cook. The top-10 finishes by the baseball, rowing and men's basketball posters gives K-State 12 Top 10 honors in the last five seasons for a poster designed by Cook.
