K-State Publications Rank Among Nation's Best

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State’s athletic publications once again ranked among the best in the country as five members of the K-State Athletics Department recently earned national and regional awards at the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) annual convention in San Diego, Calif.

The Wildcats’ 10 awards handed out at last week’s convention were the third-most in the Big 12, behind only Nebraska and Oklahoma, and among the top 10 in the nation.

Former Sports Information Director Garry Bowman’s football media guide earned “Best in Nation” honors among all Division 1-A football schools. The honor marked the second straight season the book was tops in the nation and also was the third straight year it ranked in the top five nationally.

Interim director Kenny Lannou’s baseball media guide was judged “Third-Best in the Nation,” while Bowman and Lannou’s bowl media guide placed second in the nation. K-State’s baseball media guide has been ranked among the nation’s best in three of the last four years.

The football game program also garnered recognition as its cover was judged “Best in Nation.” The women’s basketball media guide, produced by Lannou and Naveen Boppana, ranked seventh nationally, while student intern Ryan Lackey’s men’s golf media guide was judged as the second-best in District VII.

Over the last three years Kansas State’s publications have reached unprecedented heights in national judging, with 12 of K-State’s media guides earning top five national honors and 22 being named among the top three in District VII. All media guide covers are designed by K-State alumnus Ron Cook, graphics designer for K-State Athletics.
