MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State Assistant Athletic Director for Business Stacy Martin has been named the new President of the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) in an announcement by the organization last week.

Martin served as the CABMA 1st vice president during the 2010-11 season and was the organization’s 2nd Vice President during the 2009-10 season.

Since joining K-State Athletics during the 2009-10 school year, Martin has direct oversight of the athletic business office and the department’s $47 million budget. Before the start of the 2010-11 season, she was given the added responsibility as the sport administrator for the women’s basketball program, which made its 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament last year.

Prior to arriving at K-State, Martin spent five years at San Jose State where she had fiscal oversight for the department's $20-million annual budget which included 16 sports, 32 units and 125 employees. Her leadership resulted in San Jose State finishing each of her final four academic years on staff with a budget surplus - a university first.

Martin, who also served as the department’s Senior Woman Administrator, oversaw football scheduling for the Spartans and served as a sports supervisor for baseball, softball, women's basketball, women's gymnastics and volleyball. In 2009, she was named the West Region Administrator of the Year by the women's gymnastics coaches in the Pacific and Mountain Time zones.

She began her professional career as a San Jose State ticket office employee in 2002 before moving to the business office in January 2003 and earning a promotion to Athletics Business Manager in 2004. In 2006, she was named an associate athletic director.

Martin holds memberships in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA), Beta Gamma Sigma (International Honors society for studies in Business), Women in Sports Careers (WISC), National Association Of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

A native of Omaha, Neb., Martin was a four-time letterwinner and former captain of the Spartan women's gymnastics team. The 2002 SJSU graduate majored in business administration and corporate financial management and also earned an M.B.A. from SJSU in finance in 2005.
