K-State Announces New Social Media Campaigns

Wildcat Nation is encouraged to follow the Cats via social media

Aug. 1, 2012

MANHATTAN, Kan. - With the fall athletics season just weeks away, K-State fans are encouraged to follow the Cats by participating in several social media initiatives beginning today, highlighted by the "Paint Your State" campaign and nation-wide "College Colors Day" competition, department officials announced today.

To showcase their K-State pride, fans are encouraged to visit kstatesports.com/familyreunion and claim their home for K-State by registering as a representative of their state or Kansas county. Each U.S. state, and county for those Kansas residents, will be painted purple on the website's map with the ultimate goal of turning the entire country purple before the 4th Annual K-State Family Reunion on September 1 when K-State Football hosts Missouri State.

In addition to helping turn the entire country purple, fans can register and support K-State by participating in ESPN.com's College Colors Day and then wear purple on August 31 in support of this initiative. The participating institution with the most registrants will be announced August 31 on ESPN as the winner of College Colors Day.

Also, a new daily campaign will begin on August 1, consisting of Facebook posts and Twitter entries each day of the week. The schedule includes: Milestone Mondays, Trivia Tuesdays, Wabash Wednesdays, Throwback Thursdays, and Fandom Fridays. Wildcat fans are encouraged to participate and engage with these posts.

K-State Athletics will also be re-launching its Pinterest profile with new boards and pins including Wildcat Gear, Favorite Tailgate Recipes, Wildcat Workouts and more.

To connect with the Wildcats, visit the department's official social media sites: facebook.com/kstatesports, Twitter handle @KStateSports, and pinterest.com/kstatesports.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the 4th Annual K-State Family Reunion football game against Missouri State on September 1. Tickets can be purchased for all seven K-State home games online at kstatesports.com, via phone by calling 1.800.221.CATS or in person at the Bramlage Coliseum ticket office.
