MANHATTAN, Kan. – As Kansas State enters the 2011-12 athletics season with much anticipation and excitement, Wildcat fans are encouraged to follow and support its 16 athletic programs and 465 student-athletes through various social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

Through its social media platforms, K-State seeks to engage Wildcat fans in two-way dialogue as the ever-changing technology and communication platforms continue to evolve while also growing the K-State family through new Facebook “likes” and Twitter “followers” and continuing to promote and publicize each of the school’s 16 programs globally.

Fans can help spread the word about K-State Athletics by assisting in generating followers through the department’s official Twitter (kstatesports) and Facebook (K-State Sports) pages. As the new athletics season approaches, the department has set goals of 50,000 Facebook followers in the next six months to match the capacity of Bill Snyder Family Stadium and 12,528 Twitter followers to equal the current capacity of Bramlage Coliseum. So Wildcat fans, help spread the word!

By following K-State Athletics via social media, fans will have the opportunity to share thoughts, ideas, pictures and videos as well as gain access to content that is unique to any other platform and other various exclusive promotional events and merchandise specials.

Beginning Friday through September 3, fans will have the opportunity to win prizes through the school’s social media platforms as part of the 30 Days of Winning initiative, including official Nike apparel, K-State branded tailgating supplies and DVDs from K-State’s online store, while one lucky fan will win a trip for two to see the Wildcats take on Miami on September 24. To view the full list of prizes, “like” K-State Sports on Facebook (kstatesports) and follow on Twitter (@kstatesports).

Also, follow K-State’s football media day on Friday with updates, photos and player dialogue. The event will begin at 4 p.m. from inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The Wildcats open the 2011 football season on September 3 against Eastern Kentucky. Tickets to the third-annual K-State Family Reunion, which kicks at 6:10 p.m., start at only $20.
