Assistant Coach Quotes

Co-Offensive Coordinator Del Miller
On the first few practices...
"Everything is going really well. The players are working really hard. You know any Snyder-coached team is going to work really hard. We have prepared well through the spring and summer, and that is what he is all about - he is trying to improve everyday."

On players adjusting to Coach Snyder's coaching style...
"I don't think it has been a big challenge. Coach Snyder has a certain way of doing things and our staff does too. I think our players have bought in for the last four or five months and when they buy in, it gives us an opportunity to win."

On Coach Snyder asking him to come back...
"I think he wanted to hire the defensive staff first. Once I received a call, I was obviously excited about that. I have a great deal of respect for Coach Snyder. I know what he is capable of doing and, of course, you always want to be apart of it."

Co-Defensive Coordinator Vic Koenning
On the defensive positioning...
"Right now, we are in a pretty sharp competition at every position. As a whole group, the secondary doesn't really have anyone who is so far ahead of the next guy that you can sit there and say they have something locked in. We even have as many as three guys at one position competing. That is what we are trying to do - we are trying to establish competition."

On his defensive style...
"It is 11 trying to play like there are 12. We want to run to the ball so the offense feels like we have more defenders that they thought. There are still some guys trying to figure things out."

On the rarity of being a co-defensive coordinator...
"In the realm of it coming down to putting something on the resume I guess it is good to have that. I think doing a good job, winning and being successful is the thing that matters most. More and more teams around the country are starting to do this like we are."
