On the game...

“Obviously we ran into a motivated football team tonight who certainly played an outstanding game against a weaker opponent and made it very difficult for us to make a game of it. Obviously kicking off poorly in the first play of the game and them returning it for a touchdown and getting their second touchdown so quickly put the game in a position where a lesser team would have had a harder time overcoming what happened in the first five minutes of the game. We were certainly not in the position to do that. Our kids struggled to make something happen and our struggles turned into errors and errors led to more yardage and more points and it was very very ugly. It was not surprising we were unable to match up against this team but it is disheartening that we didn’t play any better than we did.  It is disheartening to me and my staff and all our players and as we step back and look at it, it is something that we felt might not happen. Going in the direction we are going it is going to take a lot of embracement, hurt, pain and lot of hard work. Our football team will stay the course and fight through this very difficult time.”

On the rain delay...

“I thought it was going to help us but in fact it didn’t. I don’t think it hurt us. It prolonged the hurt and agony. It didn’t make any worse or less difficult.
