Missouri State Player Quotes

Senior Center David Tillman

On recovering from Missouri State’s first loss of the season...

“It was a tough loss but if we come back, have a good week of practice and win next weekend it will show that we have resilience and that we can come back from the adversity of a tough loss like this.”

On the atmosphere of Bill Snyder Family Stadium...

“They are very loud. The student section really gets after it. I’ve been to a couple other Big 12 schools and this was incredibly loud compared to them. The atmosphere was a big factor and also the defensive speed that K-State has. They have some excellent athletes out there.”

Freshman Quarterback Cody Kirby

On competing against a high level of competition ...

“It’s a blessing to have the opportunity to get out there and compete, and that’s what I love doing. I felt confident when I was out there. The tempo was much faster but I felt fine being out there.”

On how the defense performed ...

“The defense played tough. The offense put the defense in some bad situations at times. It was a team loss. We’re just going to examine the film really hard and make sure that this is not a domino effect, to where we go down hill. We have to regroup and know that we have something special in this team. We have to realize that and be ready to go next week.”

Freshman Linebacker Sam Block

On tonight’s performance...

“I think we could have played better; we made some mistakes tonight that we have been working on in practice all week.  Had we not have made those mistakes I think it could have been a little closer of a game.”

On the benefit of playing Kansas State...

“I think it gives us a better chance to win this year, seeing the speed of a Big 12 team and then going down to our conference, which is one of the toughest 1-AA conferences in the country.  It will help us out in the long run seeing that type of speed and will teach how to deal with adversity.  I thought would could have played a little better today but we need to step up and make some plays.”
