Missouri State Head Coach Terry Allen Quotes

On K-State’s aerial attack...

“I thought Josh Freeman threw the ball particularly well. We played a lot of man coverage. We thought that we needed to get some guys inside there to hold up as far as defending against the run. Jordy Nelson obviously had an exceptional night and we got beat up on punt returns.”

On his message to his team after the game...

“We talked about coming back from adversity. Those young players are mad. Kingjack (Washington) on that final kickoff was fighting with everything he had and (Cody) Kirby was bouncing up and down on the sideline. These kids have a lot of great heart and that stuff starts to rub off. We tried to talk about how important this next game is and the fact that we have to learn how to handle adversity.”

On the crowd...

“This is a tough place to play they’re loud. We’re in a no-huddle offense and we had some seniors who didn’t adapt very well to the adversity and they’ve had a lifetime of it. They’re going to have to learn to adjust to that if we’re going to be successful.”

On the offensive spark Cody Kirby provided and the quarterback situation...

“I’m not sure that if (Cody) Kirby was in there at the start in the first quarter when we had those penalties that it would change anything. I think we have to evaluate that situation very closely.”

On the fake field goal in the third quarter and opportunity inside the 10-yard line...

“That was tough. We executed, did a nice job, but we get to the one-yard line, out-guessed ourselves a couple times, took a time out and unfortunately changed the play. I think we might have gotten into the end zone with that one. We tried to do a couple things and we went backwards. We truly would have liked to get in the end zone. It was nice execution from (Jacob Spavital) to (Jeff) Sargent. Unfortunately it goes down to the one and we can’t muscle it in, that was disappointing.”
