Wildcats of the Week

MANHATTAN, Kan. Beverly Ramos of the K-State women’s cross country team and Brandon Banks of the football team were the recipients of this week’s Wildcats of the Week honor, announced on Tuesday morning by the Kansas State Athletic Department.

Beverly Ramos, Jr., Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico/Golegio Nuestra Senora de Belen

Beverly Ramos led the Kansas State women’s cross country team to a second-place finish Saturday at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. Ramos, a junior, continued her winning ways as she crossed the line first for the second time this season in as many tries, finishing with a 6K time of 21:02.0. With the victory Ramos won the Woody Greeno for the second straight year and improved her time by 19 seconds from a year ago. Ramos was able to capture the lead early and not look back, finishing 30 seconds in front of the nearest competitor.

Brandon Banks, WR, Jr., Garner, NC/Bakersfield College

Junior wide receiver Brandon Banks has established himself early on as K-State’s scoring threat on offense. The junior caught seven passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns last week against Louisville, including touchdown receptions of 45 and 59 yards. The lightest wide receiver among FBS schools, Banks has tallied five touchdown receptions in the first three games this season, the most at K-State since Quincy Morgan had six back in 2000.
