K-State Player Quotes

Senior Defensive End Jeffrey Fitzgerald

On the play of the defense...
"We made a lot of improvements. We tightened up in the second half after a shaky first half, but I thought we finished well. We got after the quarterback a little more today, but we have a lot more to prove. We just have to continue working and try to get better."

On getting ready for Big 12 play...
"We just need to get better each day. A lot of the time we have had trouble closing teams out, so we just need to put out more effort."

On the importance of this win...
"This win will help our confidence on the field and in the locker room. It just feels good to get a win today. Now we have to go out next week and try to get another one."

Sophomore Tysyn Hartman

Thoughts on the game...
"On that touchdown drive, we kind of shot ourselves in the foot a few times with some penalties and missed assignments. Other than that, I thought we played pretty well. The first half we struggled a little bit, but we got the negatives cleaned up and finished the game up strong."

On getting ready for Big 12 play...
"We need to stay focused, look ahead and learn as much as we can from watching Iowa State's game tape. We need to make improvements in all areas of our game. We need to go out and execute the game plan next week."

Senior Running Back Keithen Valentine

On the play of the offense...
"We have to be consistent because the defense was playing good. If we just eliminate some mistakes and play like we can, then I feel like we can be a good offensive team.

On the running game...
"Whatever works is what they (coaches) call. Daniel (Thomas) did a good job today running the ball. He is amazing and he shows it every week.

Junior Running Back Daniel Thomas

On what he needs to improve on...
"I need to improve on being patient and reading my blocks. I try to bounce it outside a lot, so I just need to read my blocks better."

Senior Quarterback Grant Gregory

On today's game....
"It was nice to do what we were supposed to do against this team and take care of business. It felt good to play this significant amount of playing time and it was a good win."

On seeing his style of play...
"I like both, to run and throw, but when the clock is running, Coach likes to run the ball and keep it on the ground."

Sophomore Linebacker Alex Hrebec

On today's game...
"We did some things well, definitely room for improvement.  Hats off to Tennessee Tech - they are a good football team and they fought hard the whole game. I thought we did well up front. The better the defensive line plays, the easier my job as a linebacker is, so I tip my hat off to them."
