Kansas State Player Quotes

Quarterback Josh Freeman

On having Lamark Brown at running back...

“It was good. I think they plugged him at running back on Wednesday and for his first game. He ran extremely hard, found the holes and really gave us his best effort. Fortunately it was enough to win. He did a great job.”

On how he feels about the win...

“It’s a win. 3-1 was the goal, be 1-0 this week and we accomplished that. There are always certain aspects of the game that you want to improve. Whether it be on a drive or in a quarter. There is always something that you can do better but we got the win.”

On the career passing record...

“It feels good. I’m probably the career attempts leader as well but it feels good. We just got to keep winning though. I felt like we did a good job. Coach challenged the offensive line and the running game to come out and play well. I don’t know if they achieved the goal of six yards a carry, but I know when we needed to run the ball near the end of the game we were able to.”

Wide Receiver Brandon Banks

On his numbers in the game...

“I think they are pretty good numbers. I feel good because we got the win, so any time you can come out with a win it doesn’t matter what the numbers are. I’m excited. Like I’ve been saying all season, I have something to prove and with the Big 12 coming up, I’m excited.”

On what Lamark Brown provided at running back...

“He came up real big and we are proud of him. He set a tone for the offense going into the Big 12 for next week. We wanted to get over 100 yards rushing and putting him in the backfield this week really helped us achieve that goal.”

Running Back Lamark Brown

On how he feels after the game...

”I’m pretty tired. I got to get used to playing running back again. It has been two years since I last played it and I think it has been a good transition for me. I’ll be looking to do much better things next week.”

On how the game went for him as far as knowing the plays...

“For the most part I knew what to do on every play. I had a couple questions for Josh (Freeman) on where to line up sometimes when we would go to shotgun, but overall it worked out well. We work on everything all week and I was just ready to prove to people that I can go out there and contribute besides playing wide receiver.”

Defensive End Ian Campbell

On the game ...

“They played very well. Again we had the same issues with tackling. We’re there, it’s just not getting done. I’m included in that as well. It’s something we have to take care of.”

On playing spread defenses in the future...

“We don’t have great size but I feel like we have very good team speed and maybe will match up good with those guys.”

On what was different about his game today...

“Just the kind of game style they played put me in a position to be able to make plays. You can create things; you just have to make the best of it when the opportunity comes to you. Plays came to me today. I tried to make the best of things. I still missed two tackles, but I try to do whatever I can.”

Safety Tysyn Hartman

On switching to safety...

“Coach and I pretty much just approached each other. I really thought I could help the team out on defense.”

On being better on offense or defense in high school...

“I love both defense and offense. I was all-state on defense and second team all-state on offense, so if you want to go by that you can go by that.”

On preparing for Texas Tech after Louisiana...

“Just adjusting all together. Everybody’s been helping me out so I can get the defense down Chris Carney, Gary Chandler, Adrian Stryker and definitely (Defensive Graduate Assistant) Kyle Williams. Everyone’s been helping me out and taking me under their wind so I can contribute and help the team out.”
