Texas Tech Player Quotes

Quarterback Graham Harrell

On becoming Texas Tech’s all-time leading passer...

“It is a huge honor with all the great quarterbacks that have come through here. It comes with a lot of help, I’ve had great receivers here and the offensive line has been great to me. I’ve played in 30 some games here and only been sacked around 30 times and like I said earlier it is a huge honor.”

On offensive play today...

“We really played well as a team, the offensive line did a great job. I felt like I had all day back there. It starts with the offensive line and when they play well I play well. The receivers did a great job as well. As an offense I think this is the best we have played all year.”

On being the seventh ranked team in the nation...

“We can’t worry about rankings. There are lots of great teams out there. I think it is way too early for rankings to even be out, they can rank us where they want to, but it is important for us to not look at the rankings and keep getting better and improving because that is the only chance for us getting to where we want to be.”

Running Back Baron Batch

On running the football...

“It was fun.  It was fun to go out there and drive it down their throats and just make a statement. I was pretty happy with the first drive.”

On Ryan Hall...

“I was just hoping he’d get in.  I saw him open and I thought Graham was not going to throw it to him.  He was getting rushed so he just threw it up to him. I thought he had to get in and when he did I just went crazy.  I’m always telling him before every game that he is going to score this game.  I was just glad for him and he does such a great job for us and he finally got his touchdown.”

Defensive End McKinner Dixon

On getting another sack this season...

“That’s what we expect to do. We practice it and get it down every week. Overall we played pretty good defensively. We have some things to work on. They were able to score a couple touchdowns on us but we will get back to practice and work on the fundamentals.”

On adjusting to Freeman during the game...

“We just played our keys, got off the ball, played excited and played aggressive. We were able to play physical with their offensive line and make the pocket collapse on them a little bit.”

On the mindset of the defense after giving up two early touchdowns...

“We got to have a short memory and don’t do anything different but just step it up a little bit. We got a good look from our scout team this week, so we just have to trust what we practiced all week.”
