Kansas State Player Quotes

Sophomore DE Ian Campbell

On the defense playing hard...

“We’re getting sick of just playing hard.  We would like to have results come through on both sides of the ball.  We have to correct some things this coming week.”

On being prepared for the game...

“I felt like we were very prepared for the game plan.  They were the better team tonight and they played well.  They had a good defense up front.  Their front seven were good.  They had a solid offense too, a good ground game and we weren’t always doing the things we needed to do to stop them.

On the feelings of the team so far this season...

“I don’t think we are where we want to be, but obviously we can still get good things going.  We’ve shown that we’re a talented team.  I don’t think our record speaks well for us, but the losses we have are the ones we deserve.  There are still a lot of ballgames left to play, it’s not November yet so we still have our heads up.”

Junior CB Justin McKinney

On the defensive play and the overall outcome of the game...

“I think the defense came out flat in the beginning.  We picked it up towards the end of the game, but it didn’t change the outcome.  We played really hard but they played harder than us and they won.  I’m disappointed but we have to move on.  We play Missouri next week so I am not going to sit here and dwell on this loss.”

On the play of Zac Taylor...

“I think Zac Taylor did a good job tonight.  He’s a good quarterback and he stepped up and made plays when they (Nebraska) needed them.”

Junior WR Daniel Gonzalez

On his fake-punt fourth down conversion...

“I was on the field already, so the punt team comes in and relays it to me. It was a last second deal, so I did it and it worked perfectly.”

On his play at wide receiver...

“We worked hard during this week’s practice and didn’t know how it was going to come out. I knew if I got the call that I would have to step up and do my job.”

On stepping up in Jordy Nelson’s absence...

“Somebody has to do it. It is hard to fill Jordy’s shoes. I’m not trying to do anything in spite of him; I’m just trying to display my game.”

On his status with Coach Snyder last year...

“I made some big improvements last year when Snyder was here. It was looking good for the next season. I just know that when I had my chance I had to make big plays.”

Freshman Quarterback Josh Freeman

On the play of Nebraska...

“They’re a good team. They came out and outplayed us tonight. That’s all there really is to say. They’ve got a great front seven and they out-executed us tonight.”

On how he would evaluate his performance...

“We didn’t win, so I failed.”

On how he dealt with Nebraska’s constant blitzing...

“I just look at it the same like I would any other time. I just read my hots and got rid of the ball when I can.”

On how this game affects next week versus Missouri...

“They’re two totally separate games. It’s a tough loss. We just have to come back and work on Monday.”

On the play of Daniel Gonzalez...

“Dan is a big, physical receiver with excellent hands. He just played at the level we needed him to play at. He stepped it up tonight.”

On if he felt they should have run a quarterback sneak...

“No, coach had a call. I don’t know what happened. I had my back to the play. But, obviously it didn’t work. Coach has our best interest in mind, so we go with what he calls.”
