Iowa State Head Coach Dan McCarney Quotes

On the second half...

“There were just a lot of good plays by Kansas State and I don’t think we made any in the second half. They deserved to win the game and my congratulations go to them.”

On the injuries...

“We have a few (players) left. We have a bunch of injuries a few in practice last week and some in the game today. That’s why you have 85 scholarships. We have to keep coaching the kids that are there. Hopefully we will get a few back this week.”

On Todd Blythe...

“He has a virus, so he couldn’t go today. Right now it’s day-to-day, hopefully he will be back this next week. He was just really sick.”

On the remainder of the season...

“When there’s injuries and loses it’s tough. We have three games left, two of them at home. We have a fabulous group of seniors. The kids that can practice this week, we’ll coach the heck of them and try to get back on the winning track this week.”

On the muffed punt...

“Chris Singleton thought the ball hit Ryan Baum, and he was trying to recover it. Baum got knocked down and was yelling peter’ let them know to get away from it. He was on the ground and (Singleton) didn’t hear it. He went and tried to recover it and he shouldn’t have. It was a mistake that shouldn’t have been made. The ball would have been ours when it stopped rolling. But Chris hit it and Baum thought he needed to get on the ball. It was a 70-yard play.”
