Fort Hays State Quotes

Head Coach Mark Johnson

On the game...

“Obviously K-State has some talented kids out there. I think we got off to a fairly good start there up to the 10-12 minute mark. I felt K-State turned it up a little bit on the defensive end, and we ended up standing and not moving. It’s hard to score points when you are not getting shots off. I think the last nine minutes of the first half, it was turnover, turnover, turnover. K-State upped their energy level out there, pressured the floor, and we didn’t do a good enough job moving without the ball.”

On Michael Beasley’s game...

“He’s a great player. He’s long, athletic and strong, and he can score in every way there is. He can shoot the ball, he can drive it or he can post it. What are you going to take away from him? If you take one part of it away, he can find another way to score, and I think that is what makes him such a great player. There’s a variety of ways he can put the ball in the hole.”

Senior Guard Jake Sims

On K-State taking over in the first half...

“I just think that we lost a little bit of focus, and we lost our competitive edge a little bit. They picked it up a little bit to their credit.”

On Michael Beasley and Bill Walker...

“They add a whole new dimension to K-State basketball and are putting it back on the map. K-State basketball hasn’t been anything, but now there are obviously students running down. There must be something now. They have a great season to look forward to.”
