K-State Player Quotes

Senior Quarterback Grant Gregory

On today's crowd....
"The crowd was amazing today. They were here for pregame warm-ups and they were on another level today. They helped us out big time and we have one more game and hopefully they can come out even better."

On his rushing performance...
"A lot of team's play man to man and no one is manned up on the quarterback. I'm not the fastest guy or the quickest guy but I get yardage when it is there."

On Daniel Thomas...
"Daniel (Thomas) is a beast. It's his first year playing running back and I think he is the best running back in the conference and he has two more games to prove it. He is a great player."

On offense clicking...
"We need to click more because we left some points on the board. We are developing an offensive identity, we run the ball down hill and hopefully we can keep that up. The offensive line is doing a heck of a job. When you have a running back that had 24 carries and did not lose a single yard, that is impressive."

Senior Wide Receiver Brandon Banks

On how big this win was...
"It was pretty fun to get this win. It's good to beat Kansas since they are one of our rivals. It's good to bring back the Governor's Cup because it means a lot to the people around here. "

On running back Daniel Thomas...
"He really moved the ball for us today. The guy is a work-horse, he is playing beat up and he is still pushing the offense for us."

On the play of the defense today....
"The defense played well, keeping a high powered offense under 20 points. They played pretty well, forcing three turnovers and containing Todd Reesing, who is a running quarterback."

Junior Kicker Josh Cherry

On kicking out of bounds and missing a field goal...
"I was just trying to place it perfectly and line it up, I kicked a good opening kick off and I was just trying to place it in the same spot, and I lined up to kicked it but when you try to aim at something that far away its usually going to turn out bad, I just need to go through and kick it."

On kick mistakes hurting the teams momentum...
"Yeah, a little bit, it bothers me because I hate when they start on the four yard line because of me and they went down and scored off that. So I just told myself that that can't happen again. So I was out at halftime working on them a lot, kicking into the net more then I usually do for kickoffs so I could make sure that kind of thing didn't happen again."

Junior Wide Receiver Lamark Brown

Thoughts on the game today...
"
It was a lot of fun out there, we got out to a slow start but we picked it up and wanted to get the win because we know this win means a lot to a lot of people."

On the continued improvement of this team...
"Just knowing that we have to keep coming back every week and keep battling and if we do that we are going to become a better team than what everyone expects us to be."

On enjoying everything as a team...
"That comes from our conditioning and everything, we have become closer as a team and our conditioning is just keeping us in a better position as a team than most other teams."

Senior Linebacker John Houlik

On beating Kansas for the first time in his career.....
"Its huge, I've been apart of a few big upsets and what not, this is probably the sweetest win, even better then the two Texas wins because the in state rivalry and having to hear Kansas fans, back in Wichita where I'm from I get grief from all my friends when I go home. So at some point enough is enough, and we played well and got the win today."

On working hard on stripping the ball from Todd Reesing.....
"We have been trying to force turnovers and takeovers, any time you do that you give yourself another chance to win and he was carrying the ball loose and we noticed that so we kept telling each other to strip the ball ."

Junior Running Back Daniel Thomas

On carrying the load for the offense....
"You can't give credit to one player, it takes a whole team. I'm a play maker so I want the ball in my hands every play."

On the win...
"No one thought we were going to win today, I mean we were picked to be the bottom of the Big 12 on every poll, but we know what kind of team we are so we just want to show everyone. It just feels good."
