Kansas Head Coach Mark Mangino Quotes

His thoughts on the game...
"K-State played good, smart football. They took advantage of our miscues and capitalized on them. For us, our defense played pretty well as a whole. We had some tackling issues at times but I thought our defense played well enough to win. Our offense moved the ball up and down the field but could never really punch it in the end zone. Of course we had some turnovers and some penalties during key drives that set us back. We had a couple missed assignments here and there and we didn't capitalize well with our field goal unit. You have to give a lot of credit to Kansas State. I thought they played smart and didn't make a lot of mistakes and usually the team that does that wins the game."

On his team's three turnovers...
"I thought that they did a good job forcing us into some tough positions and we didn't do a very good job of protecting the football. Their defense made some really nice plays today. I think that Todd Reesing has had a string of misfortune lately. I just don't have an explanation for it. He is a great player. He gives us the best chance to win when he is on the field. He plays his heart out, but he just had a few very key mistakes today."

On Coach Bill Snyder...
"K-State is light-years ahead of where they were last year. They are disciplined and very well-coached. Coach Snyder hasn't missed a beat and I knew that he wouldn't. I think he has done a very good job with his team. They have better talent than a lot of people give them credit for; they have some guys that can play good football. But he has brought discipline and structure to their team. They play fundamentally sound and they don't make a lot of mistakes. He has them playing really well right now."
