Kansas State Player Quotes

Junior Forward Darren Kent

On Beasley’s performance...

“That’s just what he does. He’s going to do it all year. Even though three guys collapse on him, he just finds a way to create the foul or pitch it to the other man. Even though he had over 30 (points), I would say it’s not a selfish 30 points. He had over 20 rebounds, so it’s not like he’s being that selfish. He’s working hard and producing.”

On where the team needs to improve...

“We’re keeping our same principles: rebounding and defense. That hasn’t changed from last year to this year. That is what we emphasize and that’s the key to how we win games.”

Senior Guard Blake Young

On his game...

“I felt good in the first half. It was the first real game that we got a chance to play in. I shot the ball pretty good in the first half. I got hot, so I started calling for it (the ball). I felt good on the first one (three-pointer), so I figured the second one had to fall.

On K-State’s defense...

“At times I felt like we played really good defense, and at times we kind of let up. That’s what we have to get better at, but with time we’re going to get better and keep going forward.”

On Beasley’s performance...

“Beasley is a great player. He draws a lot of attention. I feel like if I’m going to play with him, I need to hit shots, and everybody around needs to hit shots.”

On team’s performance...
“We played careless at times, but with the pace we’re going to be playing sometimes that happens.  We have to correct those errors, and that is what I mean by getting better, (correcting) the little mistakes. We had 26 turnovers tonight, that is more shots we could have put up, so we have to get better at that.  It’s a young season right now.”
