Pittsburg State Quotes

Pittsburg State Head Coach Gene Iba

On his impression of K-State after the game...
"I think K-State has immensly improved since the time I saw them last time in person. And everything I've seen on television, they've improved a tremendous amount. They've improved their talent level, and obviously they've got two guards that are as good as any in the country."

On the his team's attitude after the first half...
"Well, the two things that we knew were going to give us problems were keeping people off the offensive glass which we didn't do a very good job of doing and that's not just because we weren't trying. It's because they've got great offensive rebounders. They did such a trememdous job of pushing the ball up the floor and getting their big guys down the floor, that it put tremendous pressure on our defense. We did a very poor job of getting back out  of the middle and covering Pullen when he got the basketball. We gave him five threes pretty much open because we couldn't get our big guys back. They are a much, much improved team. I think Frank Martin and his staff have done a tremendous job with them. And they're picked high in the Big 12 and they may no be picked high enough."

Senior Forward Rodney Grace

On his impression of Kansas State...
"They've got a real good team, a lot of good athletes. They'll have a pretty good year this year. I just feel it was a privilege my senior year to come out and play at K-State and play on K-State's floor against Coach Martin."

On the biggest challenge they faced against K-State...
"Instead of backing down we needed to take it to them. Everything they did to us was aggressive. I just felt that we kind of backed down. We missed a couple blocks and box out assignments and we were soft on denfense. I thought we played a lot better than we thought we would."
