Kansas State Player Quotes

Junior Guard Shalee Lehning

On the teams performance...

“I think it just speaks volumes for our team, and how we have really matured a lot, and the depth we have. When we pulled the first five out, the second five came in, and we didn’t lose a beat. We have really done a great job of focusing on that this year. There is nobody on this roster that we don’t trust with the ball, and that is what is exciting. As the point guard, it’s a dream because you can get the ball to anybody, and you have confidence in them. I’m really proud of this team and how far we have come, but we definitely have some work to do, and some improvements to make, and we will.”

On K-State’s fast pace play...

“That was something we emphasized this off-season, is to transition and get the ball out and go. That’s what we are doing this year, and thanks to us being healthy we are able to get out and run. When you have post player like Jackie Stanley that love to run, it makes it a lot easier on guards.”

Freshman Forward Jackie Stanley

On her play so far this season...

“I think most of the D1 basketball jitters are out. I feel comfortable out there.”

On her block...

“I got the block, we kicked it out, and my mentality was just to run down the floor as fast as I can and Shalee (Lehning) threw it to me.”

Sophomore Guard Kari Kincaid

On the three game so far...

“It has been a much more enjoyable preseason so far for me than last year. I just feel so much more in rhythm this year, and a lot more in-synch with my teammates. It was hard (going) eight weeks and not being able to play basketball, and then jump into the Big 12. I’m really excited about this year, and I feel blessed to be able to start the season from game one, and feel strong about my body and my foot.”
