Kansas State Coach & Player Quotes

Head Coach Frank Martin

On K-State’s defense...

“I thought we were a lot better in the first half (defensively) than we were against Washburn. We got a little sloppy at the end of the first half. We came out in the second half and we were just too casual. We played like a young team with a lead.”

On K-State’s rebounding...

“(Rebounding) is something we have emphasized. It is encouraging to see guys going and getting the basketball, but we gave up 11 offensive rebounds in the second half. That is unacceptable.”

On the team’s performance...

“We need to grow. That is our challenge as coaches, to get our basketball team to play up to its capabilities for 40 minutes. Right now we are no where near playing 40 minutes the right way. Right now it’s encouraging to sit there and see (our progress) from the Washburn game to today. We are playing with a lot more consistency for a longer period of time than we did (against Washburn).”

On Dennis Clemente’s speed ...

“I have seen (Clemente’s speed) since he came to the United States from Puerto Rico. When we have (Dennis Clemente) and Jacob (Pullen) coming at you every single time the way they do, it makes it fun to watch.”

Sophomore Forward Ron Anderson

On tonight’s defensive effort...

“I think that we had a lot of sloppy fouls. I thought the effort was good. Now we are just trying to get prepared for Sunday, but for the most part our effort was good from our defense. Right after coach got done talking, he made us sit down and watch film. It was a good win, but we have to start preparing for Sunday.”

On having Clemente and Pullen in the backcourt...

“I think we are a lot more fast-paced team. Anybody can see that (Dennis Clemente and Jacob Pullen) like to get up and run. It is part of the post’s game to get up and down the lane and keep up with them. That is what defines our team, a team that likes to get up and run.”

On this team’s offense...

“I think (the scoring) will be spread out. Obviously (Jacob Pullen and Dennis Clemente) will get their shots and do well. I think if you look down the line we have a lot of other people that on any given night will be able to contribute some points for us.”
