Postgame Notes

Kansas State is 3-0 all-time after winning the third-ever meeting with Florida A&M... The Wildcats improved to 17-0 all-time against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.


Kansas State moved to 81-24 (.771) all-time in season openers and 67-9 (.882) when debuting in Manhattan... The Wildcats have won 14 of the last 15 home openers... Kansas State is 231-85 (.731) all-time in Bramlage Coliseum.


The Wildcats’ starting lineup Friday night was sophomore guard Jacob Pullen, junior guard Denis Clemente, sophomore forward Dominique Sutton, senior forward Darren Kent and junior forward Luis Coln... Pullen, Sutton, Kent, and Coln are all returning players from last year’s squad... Kent made his first collegiate start... Clemente made his first Wildcat start after transfering from University of Miami.


Four Wildcats’ scored in double figures on Friday night... The last time that Kansas State had four players with double digits in a regular season contest was on February 20th, 2008, against Nebraska.


Kansas State had 53 rebounds in the contest on Friday night... The last time the Wildcats had more than 50 boards was on February 9th, 2008, against Oklahoma State when they had 51.


The Wildcats wore lavender uniforms on Friday night, which originated in the mid-70’s when head coach Jack Hartman was tired of the jerseys being labeled “dull” and asked Jim Knight of Knight Sportswear in Salina, Kan., to come up with something more colorful to give the Wildcats a boost... It was the first time the Wildcats’ wore the lavender version of the uniforms since facing Kansas on February 8th, 2003.


Dominique Sutton set two new career highs on Friday night... He put up 13 points, passing his previous career high of 12 points vs. Savannah State on January, 7th 2008... Sutton also had eight rebounds, which passed his previous career high of 6 against Kansas on January 30, and against Missouri on February 2.


Jacob Pullen scored 17 points on Friday night... He was 6-of-15 (.400) shooting and was perfect at the line hitting all three of his free throw attempts... He also led the Wildcats with five assists.


The Wildcats scored 48 points in the first half... The last time the Wildcats scored at least 40 points in a first half was against Iowa State on March 8th, 2008, when they put up 42.


Denis Clemente led all scorers with 19 points in his first career game as a Wildcat... Nine of his 19 points came from the free-throw line.


Ron Anderson had an impressive evening as he tied his career high with 12 rebounds... He also scored nine points and added four assists in the 19 minutes played.


The attendance on Friday night was 9,070... Kansas State’s largest season-opening crowd was Bramlage Coliseum’s grand opening, an 81-77 win over Purdue on November 26, 1988, which was witnessed by 13,304 fans.


Kansas State’s 96 points were the most in a season opener since the Wildcats put up 103 points against UT-San Antonio on Nov. 23, 1991.


Buchi Awaji, Denis Clemente, Victor Ojeleye, Jamar Samuels, and Justin Werner all played and scored in their first career games as Wildcats.
